The Generalitat announces a new chemical accident drill in Tarragona for 2023
The Minister of the Interior of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Joan Ignasi Elena, congratulated himself on the "success" of the simulated chemical accident that was carried out this Wednesday at various points in Tarragona. So much so that he has announced, in an appearance after the activity, a new drill in Tarragona. This will take place at the Poligon Nord (today's was at the Poligon Sud) in 2023.
Elena thanked the citizens for their "show of maturity and awareness" in an activity in which "there have been 30 points where 50 observers have been distributed, who monitored the monitoring that the population was doing."
Half a hundred calls
In total, 54 calls have been received to 112 asking what was happening. For Elena, this is great news, since "if she hadn't been informed before the drill, there would have been hundreds of calls."
"Today", according to the minister's opinion, "is not the end of anything, it is the beginning of an important task at Plaseqta level".
Among others, the mayor of Tarragona, Pau Ricomà, has explained his opinion on the test. "Now we know how to act in the event of a chemical accident." In addition, he added that "citizens have shown maturity" and recalled that "when the population complains, it is for something."
