The Copa del Rey to debut
The Copa del Rey gave the alternative to Iván de la Peña and Dani Parra. The two players took advantage of the competition to debut with the first team. An opportunity that they had been chasing for weeks and that was fulfilled on Saturday at the Municipal stadium of Las Gaunas.
Both the goalkeeper and the pivot, converted to a centre-back, have been called up by coach Raül Agné in almost every league game. The only one in which neither of them made the list was the clash on matchday six in Elda. In the rest they have traveled with the rest of the team and have watched the game from the bench. In Logroño the time has come.
It was a notable debut for both, although interrupted in the case of the defender due to injury. The goalkeeper finished with a clean sheet. Thanks to maximum concentration in all the actions that involved his intervention and the appearance of the post that saved him up to three times from conceding a goal.
For his part, De la Peña, who had his father, the former FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol footballer, in the Las Gaunas stands, was very focused, being one of the best footballers of the game until he got injured. He had to retire in the 56th minute due to a knee problem that is at the expense of medical tests to determine the severity.
Parra has been pursuing that debut for three years. Since he returned to Tarragona -he was in the lower categories- three years ago he came from CF Reus Juvenil. In his first season with La Pobla (2020/21), the goalkeeper was called up by Nàstic ten times. First covering Wilfred's loss and then Gonzi's. Last season he was also among those called up on two occasions. Despite the fact that there were three goalkeepers in the squad (Venetikidis was the theoretical third goal), Parra ended up included among those called up when Manu García was absent for the matches against UCAM Murcia and in the visit to the Costa Brava. A recognition of his good work during training sessions under the orders of the goalkeeper coach Manuel Oliva, who holds the goalkeeper in very high esteem.
Continuing in Tarragona was his bet this summer and it has ended up going well for him. He is the team's second goalkeeper and has already managed to make his debut, making it clear that he is prepared to assume the responsibility of protecting the red goal whenever necessary.
De la Peña also landed in La Pobla in the 2020/21 season. In his case, he left CF Damm. He signed as a defensive midfielder, but due to squad needs, he converted to center-back, a position in which he has established himself both in the grana subsidiary and in the first team. Before appearing for the first time in the Nàstic eleven in Las Gaunas, De la Peña has been called up ten times this season.
With Iván de la Peña and Parra there are already three rookies who have been able to debut with Nàstic this season. The first to do so was Marc Álvarez, who has become a first-team player.
Last year, Raül Agné gave the alternative to three other players: Karim L'Koucha, Víctor Valverde and Montalvo, who played one minute. The next ones could be Nil Garrido and Fer Torres.
