Gas explosion in a restaurant on La Rambla Nova with 6 injuries
A loud roar has shaken this Sunday afternoon in a good part of the northern area of the Rambla Nova. A gas explosion, confirmed by Bombers, inside the Japanese restaurant Koyo, in the section closest to the Balcó del Mediterrani, has caused the breaking of windows in the shop window of the premises and seven injuries, four of a minor nature and two less serious. All of them have been referred to the Santa Tecla and Joan XXIII hospitals with SEM ambulances.
Calls to 112 have begun to come in at 3:57 p.m. and Bombers has activated 7 crews, the Guàrdia Urbana de Tarragona several patrols and the SEM has also taken up to 11 ambulances for possible injured people.
The causes at this time are uncertain, but there are crystals that can fall and others that have broken on impact with the sidewalk. The rooms of this premises should also be checked to confirm that the explosion has not affected them. As the minutes have passed, it has been confirmed that the building that houses the restaurant would not have suffered structural damage.
The injured people could be employees of the premises, cooks, and the explosion could have also affected the lateral part of the premises on Roger de Llúria street.
