Gandesa hosts the Conference on Historical Memory
The Association of Aviators of the Republic, together with the Gandesa City Council and the Battle of the Ebro Study Center, organizes this weekend the 44th edition of the Gandesa Historical Memory Conference.
The program will start this Saturday at 10:30 am with the opening of the conference and immediately afterwards the suffering of the civilian victims of the Battle of l'Ebre will be addressed. For this reason, the talk will be attended by Anton Monner, historian and chronicler of Gandesa, as well as by Antonia Serres, who has written books on defeat and recovery during the war and after the war and has studied the effects of the war in the inhabitants of the area, and Enric Ubalde, promoter of the Marcados por el 38 project. The fact is that the destruction of the old town of Corbera de Ebro caused by the Francoist bombings is popularly known, but not so much that of other towns such as the Pinell de Brai case. Thanks to the initiative of Antonia Serres, and on the occasion of the Conference, a collection of photographs will be exhibited at the CEBE, some from the National Library in Madrid, which attest to the breadth, extent and degree of malignity applied against the civilian population during the Battle of the Ebro
The book will be presented below. Didactic guide of the Battle of the Ebroby Rafael Sospedra and Xavier Hernàndez Cardona, and then five books related to ADAR.
In the afternoon the book will be presented The Battle of Teruel from the air. Testimonials, by Blas Vicente Marco and Carlos Mallench, with the participation of David Iñiguez and David Gesalí; and then Lluís Orozco and Miquel Torres will board the Nalec aerodrome.
The day will conclude on Sunday to discuss the new Democratic Memory Law. Next, there will be a floral offering at the Concord and Reconciliation monument, a wine of honor at the Gandesa cooperative winery and a fellowship meal.
