Zubiri comments that “the book is based on his career as a player, which was part of Osasuna’s best attacking trident with Iriguíbel and Echeverría”. And he states that “as a coach, we are alive thanks to him. Osasuna would still have disappeared”. Enrique Martín is the second coach who has directed the most games in Osasuna history with 191, a ranking led by Pedro Mari Zabalza (340).
It is in her stages on the bench when the witch from Campanas starred in the so-called miracles of martin. The first dates from 1996-1997 season. “He avoided going down to Second B, winning four of the last five games,” says Zubiri.
“In 2014-2015, the corruption case had just broken out, we were about to go downstairs when he took the team. With the debt that the club had accumulated, if it comes down I don’t know where Osasuna would be”, admits the Tafallés about the second miracle, which culminated in Javi Flaño’s goal in the 90th minute against Sabadell. The third feat is promotion the following year with a team full of homegrown players.
In the more than 160 pages of Enrique Martín Monreal, legend of Osasuna, there is also room for stages as a coach in other clubs such as Leganés, Nástic or Numancia. Zubiri highlights “the receptions with banners” the three times he led a game in El Sadar with another shield.
“He has been the only one who has gone up with Osasuna as a player and coach. He has received recognition from everyone, but not from the club“, notes the author. “He has been an important person in that Osasuna, which means health, has reached the centenary in good health“, sentence
